You can set up exactly the teams with exactly the skills they should have. However - and it's a big "however" in terms of customisation, you can do more in ITC in terms of setting up the game you want, choosing the players you want and getting accurate results, than you can in International Cricket Captain. A very good free version and I think there is a one day (50 over) version as well It hasn't been updated for 5 years but is still very good for that. More of a sim than a game, but a wonderful tool for "what if" scenarios.
He also published his own cricket sim called International Test Cricket (ITC).
I think he did the net code for ICC, it improved immensley once he took over that aspect. Reviews of all the cricket games available on PC and console. In case you guys don't know he used to run THE cricket games website. Instead they removed some of those features. The ability to personalise is something they should have added a decade ago. And it's just feedback and no I havent played it because to do so would require shelling out money on what I can see is a game that still has no editor, does not contain the ability to add player pics and has a UI that looks identical to last years which frustrated me when playing. And indeed perhaps needs to evolve now.īUT an extensive editor on this version WOULD have been enough for me to have taken the plunge to purchase.
But putting countless hours into something doesnt mean it should be purchased, its a product that would need to attract everyone commercially and I'm simply saying that this game needs an editor and requires a UI update. It also would mean it is indeed something very personal to the developers hearts. I have no dobut that 1000's of hours have been put in to improve the match engine and I'm sure that in itself is far far better. Right now it seems as if Childish Things is taking advantage of a lack of serious competition in this niche space. The gameplay and match engine have improved a little over the years, but not enough to warrant a purchase year after year and frankly most of the changes should have been included all along.
A database update that everyone seems to think is no work has over 1,000 man hours and countless more automated hours behind it. Surely improvements to the match engine / fixtures and all the non visual sides of a mangement game are far more important.Īs I said personal response as glib comments like no changes to the graphics means no changes to the game really annoy me. If all you perceive as changes is graphics then I think you need to re-evaluate what type of game you want.
Playing a cover drive doesn't change from 2017 to 2018.
So because the animations don't change every version and UI changes are more tinkering so you don't have to re-learn how to play the game every year you ignore the literally 100s of changes made to improve match engine alone.
